It’s President’s Day and late in the afternoon. I had the day off and planned to wake up and write, but the urge to sleep in won the morning—and I let it. I’m not going to lie, the last couple of weeks have been stressful and all I wanted to do this morning was lazily close my eyes and seep in the extra hours.
We spent about an hour wandering the wooden path, doing a quick jaunt amongst the trees, chatting with a scientist in a stream, and heading back to the house (and cat) to relax. I love a good hike but my friend is more of a walker, so we avoided actually taking off on any trails. Plus, by the time we’d wound our way along the wooden walkway, it was feeling a bit crowded and I was getting uncomfortable being around so many people—most with masks but some without.
Anyway, today I thought I’d write something a little different. Instead of a log of the day, I’ll write about some of the things I’ve been going through while my dad is in the ICU. From contradictory emotions to spirituality to frustrations, I’m going to try my best to describe what it’s been like here.
